February saw movement in leadership on the independent beauty front. Charlotte Tilbury’s CEO for the last 14 years stepped down. Supergoop!’s new Chief Executive Officer, Melis del Rey, made her first C-suite appointment.Glossier's CEO, Colin Walsh, who took the helm in October, began executing his restructuring strategy, laying off about 59 people of the 170-member team. The last time Glossier downsized at this scale was in early 2022, when the company reduced its team by or more than 80 people, or about 30%.On the strategic front. Tylenol maker Kenvue announced a global workforce reduction as it proceeds toward a planned takeover by Kimberly-Clark. Its board has approved a plan to optimize its operating model, resulting in a net reduction of about 3.5% in its 22,000-person global workforce.Demetra Pinsent is stepping down as CEO of Charlotte Tilbury Beauty after 14 years, having led the brand from its 2012 inception to a billion-dollar global business. Pinsent is leaving to pursue new opportunities.Jérôme Leloup was appointed CMO of Charlotte Tilbury Beauty. Leloup over the past six years has served as vice president of Rabanne at Puig, which owns both brands.Wella has named former Lululemon boss Calvin McDonald as the company’s next Chief Executive Officer. He will also be appointed to the company’s board of directors and will be based in New York. Glenn Murphy, who has been helping the company in the interim, will remain Executive Chair.LVMH has appointed Véronique Courtois as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of its beauty division. Courtois will oversee all beauty Maisons while continuing as CEO of Parfums Christian Dior.
