Live Tinted

Live Tinted raised more than $3 million in a seed round of funding led by Montage Ventures.

WHO: Live Tinted launched its first product, Huestick, in May 2019, leveraging the #TintFam community that founder Deepica Mutyala, a Texas native of South Asian descent, built after a 2015 YouTube video went viral. At the time, she was a senior manager of brand development at Birchbox; she went on to become an influencer and now brand founder of an inclusive color range of hybrid products.

WHY: The funds will be used to expand distribution, to make executive hires, and for new product development.

DETAILS:

  • Live Tinted raised more than $3 million in a seed round of funding. Montage Ventures led the round with participation by Halogen Ventures, Curate Capital, and Fearless Fund.
  • According to CB Insights, this brings the total funding raised to date by the brand to $4.95 million.
  • The brand has a 68% repeat customer rate, and WWD reported that industry sources estimate the business will do between $5-$10 million in sales this year.
  • In 2019 the brand closed a $1.7 million pre-seed round of funding from Bobbi Brown, Toni Ko (founder NYX Cosmetics), and Hayley Barna (Birchbox), Payal Kadakia (founder of ClassPass), Andy Dunn (CEO and co-founder of Bonobos), Jaimie Schmidt (founder of Schmidt Deodorant), Shivani Siroya (founder of Tala), and Shilpa Shah (co-founder and CXO of Cuyana).
