What is the one thing you wish someone had told you?

I have years of experience as a doctor but am new to being the CEO of a young beauty brand, so I learn new things about this industry every day. I find it most useful navigating uncharted territories like a medical expert, soliciting data and advice to inform decisions.

What would you tell your past self before starting this journey?

I’d assure myself that unprecedented excellence and measurable results are, in fact, exactly what beauty consumers want.

What does success look like in the next 3-5 years? 

We have plans to scale with a robust new product development pipe extending beyond the InstaFacial franchise, continued growth across North America, and global expansion.

What's one industry trend that is overhyped, and what's being overlooked? 

Flash in the pan trends like using beef tallow and salmon sperm in skincare despite their lack of clinical efficacy are grossly overhyped. Something I think is largely overlooked is the overuse of subjective consumer claims studies by many skincare brands in place of objective and measurable clinical testing. Subjective consumer claims studies provide useful context, but consumers should be aware that subjective studies can’t replace objective, measurable proof.

How do you think the industry needs to evolve?

I’d love to see skincare marketing promises backed by objective clinical testing as a standard. Consumers deserve to know what they’re paying for.

If you could wave a magic wand, what one wish would you make for your business?
