Why now and why you?
As the owner of the leading acne center in New York City, I believe I bring expert-led, results-driven skincare to a wider audience with Sofie Pavitt Face. Our introduction into Sephora at the beginning of this year has been met with great success, and we are looking forward to having a wider audience with an all-door expansion this fall.
What fuels your competitive advantage?
Each product is designed within the walls of our studio. Owning a skincare studio in NYC, along with a team of seven estheticians, we see over 400 people a month. Our clients are our inspiration, which means we develop thoughtful products that sit apart from what already exists in the market.
What are you most proud of accomplishing to date?
Launching our skincare line in 2023 and signing our Sephora contract a year later in 2024.
What is the one thing you wish someone had told you?
I’m glad nobody told me how crazy it would be starting a skincare line because I would have been scared to do it! But I’m so glad I did!
What would you tell your past self before starting this journey?
Don’t be intimidated by the size of the cake. Take tiny bites every day, and you'll finish it all!
What does success look like in the next 3-5 years?
I hope to see continued success within retail but also cultivating our skincare studio in NYC as the premier destination for clients looking for help with their problematic skin.
What's one industry trend that is overhyped, and what's being overlooked?
Too many steps and trendy ingredients and not enough simple routines that work.
How do you think the industry needs to evolve?
Less trend following. What's your brand’s special sauce? Nobody needs to start a product line without integrity and a clear POV in a saturated industry. What makes yours different?
If you could wave a magic wand, what one wish would you make for your business?
I hope to keep the magic and flexibility we have as a small but mighty team as we grow!
